But in summary, a malicious actor takes a list of public wallet addresses and sends a tiny bit of Litecoin (dust) to each address. They monitor the wallet and *may* be able to deduce relationships between addresses and could extort the address owner based on the information that was found. The protections is to simply not spend the dust.
